A593 Skelwith Bridge - Resurfacing Works

Cumbria Highways will be undertaking extensive resurfacing works along the A593 near Skelwith Bridge in January 2017.

The road repairs are being carried out as part of South Lakeland’s Resurfacing Programme for 2016 - 2017. The works will entail the machine resurfacing of the existing A593 carriageway and the renewal of road markings.

Works commence from Wednesday 4 January 2017 and will be scheduled as follows, commencing at 8.30am and finishing at 6pm each day:

Wednesday 4 January - Brunt How Corner

Thursday 5 and Friday 6 January - Steven How to Bull Close

Monday 9 January - Skelwith Bridge to Mill Brow

The road will be closed completely where works are taking place and a local diversion will be in place.  Full access will be maintained from 6pm each evening and throughout the weekend of Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 January.

If any local residents have any emergency requests to access property or businesses during the road closures, please speak with the Foreman of the council’s surfacing contractor - Aggregate Industries, during the works.

Please note that the works are weather dependant so if inclement weather is forecast, or there is programme slippage elsewhere, works may be delayed.

The council wishes to thank in advance the local community for their understanding and patience whilst we carry out these vital road repairs.  Cumbria Highways will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum.
