On-street parking permits advice for flood victims

CCC Logo 4

Cumbria County Council is assisting residents needing temporary parking permits after being displaced from their usual home address by the recent flooding.

A number of householders have moved from one parking permit zone to another and as a result their existing permit will no longer be valid when parking near their new, temporary address. In some cases residents who usually live in an area without parking restrictions may be staying with friends or family who live in a parking permit zone.

The county council appreciates that many flood victims will not be aware how long they will be living away from their usual home address and is encouraging affected residents to contact the council’s Parking Services team.

Councillor Stewart Young, Leader of Cumbria County Council, said: “People affected by flooding will have many issues to deal with over the coming months and the council wants to assist as much as we can. Anyone who’s had to move out of their home into temporary accommodation can get a temporary parking permit and I would encourage them to contact us.”

Residents wishing to obtain a temporary parking permit to cover the period when they are away from their usual address should contact Parking Services via e-mail at parking@cumbria.gov.uk or by telephone on 08456 096609.
