On-street parking permit arrangements in Barrow

Parking sign

Cumbria County Council has introduced a number of changes to improve the on-street parking permits process in the Barrow area.

The county council issues a variety of permits to residents living in the restricted parking zones of the borough, in addition to a number of other options including contractors waivers.

On-street parking permits are now issued from the main enquiry desk at Barrow library, Ramsden Square, Barrow, during library opening hours, including weekends. The last permit will be issued 15 minutes prior to the library closing time. Customers requiring an on-street parking permit can also complete the application form which is available online on the Parking Services pages of Cumbria County Council’s web-site at www.cumbria.gov.uk/parking.

Councillor Kevin Hamilton, Chair of Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for Barrow, said: “These changes will increase customer access to the service, particularly for those residents who work during the week. Barrow library is a familiar and accessible location within the town and offers an expanding range of services. With an increasing demand for on-street parking permits, it is hoped that this much-needed, extended service will satisfy local requirements.”
