Cumbria County Council is pleased to reveal just over £1.3m of funding has been secured to undertake remediation works to address the landslip on the C4014 road at Rotheryske, near Egremont.
The route has suffered from significant deterioration in recent years, made worse by the December 2015 storms.
The remediation work will include:
re-profiling a 100m length of failed embankment to a stable angle
removal off-site of failed slope material
 realignment of the existing carriageway
construction of additional drainage in both the slope and carriageway
construction of a rock armour protection at the toe of the slope to prevent future erosion
Design work will be completed by the end of this year, with remediation works expected to be complete by mid-2017, after which the route will be fully re-opened to traffic.
