Household waste permit scheme to re-start

CCC Logo 4

The Household Waste Recycling Centre Permit Scheme was suspended during the past month to allow householders ease of access to dispose of their flood-damage waste. As the urgent need to remove such waste has now passed, the Permit Scheme will be reinstated with effect from Monday 11th January.

For householders needing to dispose of their waste at an HWRC by way of a van, pickup or flatbed vehicle or a trailer, a Permit will be required to access the HWRC.

Further details can be found at http://tinyurl.com/zeaf2ll or by calling the Permit Helpline on 0845 055 1118.

A spokesperson for Cumbria County Council said:

"This was always a temporary measure to make life a bit simpler for people affected by flooding. We've now seen the number of people visiting HWRC with flood damaged items reduce hugely and it's right that we re-instate the permit scheme to ensure our HWRC are used appropriately."
