Milnthorpe Freegle and Seed Swap event - next weekend!

People in Milnthorpe and surrounding areas can pop along to their local Freegle event next week to grab a household freebie and give away unwanted items.

The Give & Take and Seed Swap event, takes place on Saturday 1 April between 10am - 1pm at M:Hub, Beetham Road, Milnthorpe and anyone can pick up any item for free, preventing goods from being sent to recycling or waste centres.  It’s also an opportunity for householders to give away items they no longer need.  There will also be a seed & small plant swap.  If you have spare vegetable & plant seeds, or fancy trying to grow your own this year, come along and swap them for something new!

Across the UK, Freegle keeps around 1,000 tonnes of goods in circulation monthly across the UK.

Katharine Smith, Waste Prevention Officer for Cumbria County Council said:

“These events are becoming increasingly popular and really are great news for everybody involved. They mean that still useful items find a new home rather than ending up in the household bin and ultimately one of our waste treatment facilities.  I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and pick up a freebie!”

Louise Belcher of Kendal Freegle said:

“Everyone is welcome to come to our Give and Take day and you don’t have to donate in order to take something.”

Any goods left over will be donated to local charities.
