Missed the deadline? Don’t miss the bus!

Parents of school pupils who are starting primary or secondary school in September 2018 who have not yet applied for transport are being encouraged to do so via the County Council’s new Customer Portal on-line for home to school transport.

By using the Customer Portal, the status of transport applications can be tracked, with email updates provided at key points during the application process.

Cumbria County Council arranges free school transport to pupils who are attending their catchment or nearest qualifying school and live more than 2 miles away (up to the age of 8) or more than 3 miles away (aged 8 and over).  Children from “low income groups” (those entitled to free school meals, or whose families are in receipt of their maximum level of Working Tax Credit or Universal Credit) may also be entitled to assistance with transport.

Further information on eligibility, an online application form and Frequently Asked Questions are available on the County Council’s website at www.cumbria.gov.uk/schooltransport

The deadline for applications to be submitted has already passed, however parents and carers should apply as soon as possible for transport if they have not done so already - to enable the County Council’s School Transport Team to assess whether a child has an entitlement to transport, inform parents of the outcome and plan routes before the start of term in September 2018.

**If you have already applied please do not apply again, your application is being processed and you will be notified of the outcome shortly.**
