Cumbria County Council’s Parking Service team has been successful in securing an award at a recent national event, held at the House of Commons.
The annual PATROL PACER Awards recognise best practice reporting of local transport authority civil parking enforcement activities. The Council’s Parking Services Annual Report 2019/20 received the Best Concise Report award.
The Report focused on the team’s parking enforcement activities and the issuing of on-street parking permits across Cumbria. The Report also outlined the engagement that had been executed with communities, covering the activities during the early phases of the COVID-19 pandemic, when Civil Enforcement Officers distributed food and medicine to elderly and vulnerable residents.
The PATROL PACER judging panel said:
“Cumbria County Council’s Parking Services Annual Report stood out as one that set out activity for the year in a shorter, more compact format, without losing critical detail and explanation, as well as having a strong community feel. It really was a standout entry!”.
Councillor Keith Little, Cumbria County Council’s Cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said:
“Cumbria County Council aims to deliver a fair and transparent Parking Service and since March 2015, when the on-street parking enforcement service was established, has produced and published a yearly Parking Services Annual Report. Throughout the year team members are encouraged to submit suitable content material for inclusion in the Report, including details of events, initiatives, and positive customer feedback.
The Report provides the Council with an opportunity to highlight its engagement activities with local communities, partners and other stakeholders when striving to improve the parking offer for Cumbria’s diverse communities and the millions of individuals who visit the county each year. We are delighted that our work has been recognised in these awards and I would like to thank all the Parking Services Team for their continuous efforts and hard work.”
