Find out more about fostering at our virtual summer drop-in sessions

Have you been thinking about fostering and would like to find out more? Cumbria County Council is running a series of information drop-in sessions online over the summer, with the first one taking place this Thursday (July 29).

The council already supports more than 230 foster carers across the county, but with more than 700 children in care in Cumbria we urgently need to recruit more carers.

Thereis a particular need for foster carers to look after older children, teenagers and siblings groups to help them stay together, but carers for children of all ages are also needed.

The council offers excellent training and a full package of support to all of our carers, including initial Skills to Foster Training, generous allowances, regular support groups, peer mentors for new carers and a dedicated support social worker.

Wherever you are on your fostering journey you are welcome to join us and talk to our experienced and friendly team. They'll answer any questions you have and give you all the information, advice and inspiration you need. You can also have a chat with our foster carers so you can hear first-hand what it’s like to foster with us.

Cllr Anne Burns, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “If you’re interested in fostering but want to find out more before you take the leap, attending one of our fostering events is a great starting point.”
