Have your say on Keswick ‘Back Streets' proposals - deadline extended!
Cumbria County Council is reminding Keswick residents that they still have time to provide feedback on proposals to improve on-street parking and traffic movement in the town.
Residents, business owners, and visitors are invited to comment on proposals for a Community Parking Management Scheme for the area known locally as the 'Back Streets', as the consultation has been extended until Sunday 20 March.
Keswick Transport Study identified the Community Parking Management Scheme as the recommended solution to on-street parking issues after research, assessments and engagement with local residents, businesses and stakeholders.
Details about the proposed scheme can be found on the county council's website at www.cumbria.gov.uk/keswickparking. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are also available, along with drawings of the proposed scheme.
People are urged to read this document in full before completing the online survey. The feedback collected from the survey will be used to develop the final proposals for the scheme, and plan how it will be implemented.
For those without access to the internet, the county council's Highways department can be reached by telephoning 0300 303 2992, to request a paper copy of the survey.
The consultation has been extended until Sunday 20 March.
Cllr Keith Little, Cumbria County Council Cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said:
“I would like to thank everyone for completing the consultation, so far, and attending the drop-in sessions. I would like to encourage the local community to complete the consultation, as we need as much feedback as possible, as it will help us in making the final decisions about parking improvements in Keswick".
“Reviewing parking provision and restrictions and analysing traffic data is an important aspect of the work of our highways teams, and the ultimate goal is to provide fair and sufficient access to parking, to enhance road safety and reduce accidents on our roads. “
