Keeping Barrow's cycle paths on track!

Cumbria County Council is continuing its work on the new cycle paths in Barrow.

To ensure the project remains on track, Story Contracting Ltd. will be working this Saturday (7 May) on Bridge Road and Michaelson Road.

The work will begin at approximately 7.30am and end around 4.30pm.

The county council is building two new direct cycle paths along Bridge Road and Michaelson Road, with innovative light separation, being the first of their kind in Cumbria, which will enhance the safety of cyclists and pedestrians.

Funding, of £886,000, for this specific project came from the Department for Transport's Active Travel Fund.

There is temporary roadworks along the route of Bridge Road and Michaelson Road, so that journeys can continue with as little disruption as possible.

To enable installation of the cycle paths, existing roadside spaces are being removed.

This project is expected to be completed by the end of August 2022.

During this period of essential work, the county council would like to extend its thanks to the residents, businesses and visitors for their patience and co-operation.
