Leading the Charge - Free event for businesses offering electric vehicle advice
Cumbria’s Electric Vehicle Charging Partnership are offering businesses expert advice from industry leaders on how to reduce their carbon emissions at a free event on Tuesday 14 March.
The partnership is made up of a group of organisations from across Cumbria, who are working together to deliver a coordinated approach to addressing the future electric vehicle charging needs of the county.
The free event, which is being organised in partnership with Electricity North West Ltd, the Distribution Network Operator for the North West, aims to enable local businesses and organisations to make the transition to electric vehicles.
Businesses are invited to sign up in advance to attend the event at The Pencil Factory in Keswickon14 March 2023 between 9am-1:00pm for a packed line up of speakers and case studies including The Energy Saving Trust and Electricity North West.

Phil Gray, Project Manager for the EV partnership said: “Delegates will have the opportunity to learn more about the EV eco system, talk to subject matter experts, test drive a range of electric vehicles and meet a variety of suppliers and installers of electric vehicles, bikes, and related electric vehicle charging infrastructure covering charge point operators, installers, renewables, energy efficiency and also finance solutions providers.
“It’s an event not to be missed for those who are considering making the transition to electric vehicles and we hope people will come away with the knowledge and information they need to make the switch. Mike Taylor, Head of Customer Engagement at Electricity North West added: “With the climate emergency, energy crisis and the impending deadline of 2030 for the ban of new petrol and diesel cars, Cumbrian businesses are under increasing pressure to address and navigate a growing list of challenges.
“There are many benefits of change, like saving money and lowering your environmental impact, but it can be difficult to know how and what to prioritise. The 2030 deadline, for example, means businesses need to urgently put in place a plan to electrify their fleets and extend car schemes to include more EVs, and there are big financial savings to be made in doing so.
“As the region’s network operator, we’re in a great position to share impartial advice to support businesses. This event is a great opportunity for businesses to get practical answers from our experts, to try electric vehicles for themselves, talk to suppliers of low carbon technologies, and hear how to save money while making rapid progress on their journey to net zero.”
The event will also see the launch of C-Volt, the Electric Vehicle Charging Partnership Strategy on the recommended roll out of EV charging across the county. The partnership has engaged with several EV charging infrastructure specialists to develop a strategy that will be the most effective for Cumbria and consider both residents’ and visitors’ needs going forward.
