Yellow lines to be removed in Carlisle’s Corporation Road area

Cumbria County Council is in the process of removing some double and single yellow lines in the Corporation Road area, which is known as Zone HC

Following a public consultation, the historic quarter restricted zone was expanded to include more of the city centre, and new parking restrictions were implemented in 2019.

In order to bring the rest of the Zone HC into line with the historic quarter, double and single yellow lines will be removed from Peter Street, Corporation Road, Clifford Street, Rickergate, West Tower Street, Warwick Street and part of Scotch Street. The work is expected to be completed in four weeks.

Cllr Keith Little, Cumbria County Council Cabinet member for Highways, said:

“By limiting the number of yellow lines and reducing signage, we will be making this area of the city centre in Carlisle less intrusive. This part of the city is known for its history and beauty, and we're pleased to be able to give it a helping hand."

“The council would like to remind residents and visitors to be mindful where they park their vehicles, especially in the historic quarter, as if they are not in a designated bay, such as a disabled bay, loading bay or disc parking bay, they may be subject to parking enforcement and receive a penalty charge.”
